Your own Photo Album Website

At HeyDan.org, we are offering pre-installed websites at rock bottom prices. We take the best of the free software available and set you up with a working site.

We charge a very small fee for installation and software upgrades and also charge for the disk space and bandwidth your site uses (at incredibly low prices), a percentage of which is donated to the authors of the software.

Currently we have just one pre-installed website application. It is a site that you can use to upload and categorise your photos. These are then available for your friends and family to look at and to make comments on.

For details of what is available, and the related costs, please visit our website - you will also find a live demo of a photo album site.

We expect to have more pre-installed site options available in the very near future, so please check our site often.

Try a Site

Are you (or someone you know) thinking about setting up a new website?

If you are looking for the cheapest solution available, come and visit us at HeyDan.org. Every month we are offering more features, all at super low prices.

Start by renting one of our sub-domains (rather than purchasing your own domain). This will cost you a fraction of the price, and you can always easily purchase your own domain name later which we can then attach to your site.

Your website will cost you just cents per month. If you decide to use a lot of disk space, or your site becomes incredibly popular, then you can expect the cost to go up, but you will need an incredibly popular, rather large, website to be paying the same as other hosting companies charge for small, not so popular websites.

If your site does become big and popular, we will not throttle your site or hinder you in any way. You simply pay for what you use and we simply provide what you need.

Our sites all run under Apache and have PHP5 available. We also have postGres databases available if required.

Come and visit our site today and see if we are able to meet your needs....

Cheap Hosting

Are you looking for cheap web hosting? Cheap email hosting? Are you thinking about setting up a new website but don't want to pay full cost before seeing how successful the new site is?

HeyDan Development are now selling web/email disk space and bandwidth for the lowest prices available. They also are selling domain names, DNS services, postGres databases, Icecast streaming servers and more.

All emails come with a great spam protection solution and are available via POP3, IMAP or our simple web based email tool.

There are no limits on disk space or bandwidth used - you simply pay for as much (or as little) as you use. You can therefore have an unlimited number of websites, email address, databases, and more... We have no Conditions of what types of files may be stored on our server, and we do not throttle overly popular sites - you simply pay only for what you actually use.

We are also renting out sub-domain names. This means that you don't have to purchase a domain name just yet if you would rather wait. Instead, you can simply borrow one of ours. Once you are ready to purchase your domain name, we will simply redirect everything from the rented domain name to your new domain name for as long as you require.

As we are just making our services publically available, you may worry that your intended usage may break our [yet unfinalised] Terms & Conditions. The solution? Simply contact us with any queries and concerns and we will do our best to accommodate you.

There are plenty more possibilities available at HeyDan.org. We are aiming to be as flexible as possible, meaning that you can use as little or as much of our services as you want. You can purchase your domain with us, or else where. You can make use of our DNS services, or someone else's. You can use us for just your website or your emails and use someone else's services for the rest, or you can host everything with us. Maybe you are happy with your current hosting solution, but you need a postGres database or an IceCast streaming server. We can provide these individually too.

Entertainment+Christian Message = Impact

It is always great to have the opportunity to share my Christian faith with kids. However, sometimes we waste a great opportunity because we fail to connect with the kids. I have made a living of teaching with entertainment. The entertainment I use is magic...

Here's a simple and fun piece you can use with any group.

Jesus Forgives

You take some time to talk about sin and forgiveness, you have each child write on a slip of paper one sin that they are truly sorry for. You then take the slips of paper and burn them in a coffee can (make sure you do this in an area that it is safe to do this). As you are burning the paper explain that their prayers for forgiveness rise with the smoke. And when you say you are sorry and truly mean it who forgives you? As the students reply to your question, you take some ash from the burnt papers and rub it on your forearm and the message.. "Jesus" appears.

Needed: Slips of paper, container to burn paper, matches/lighter and bar of soap.

Step By Step Instructions: Prior to class take the bar of soap and cut off a piece so it is triangular in shape with a point at one end. In this way it resembles a writing implement. Wet the point of the triangle and write "Jesus" on your arm. Let the soap and water dry then go about the rest of your class preparation. This really works itself.. have the kids write their sins on the slips of paper and burn them. After they have burned out, ask them the question, "What happens if you are truly sorry for your sins?" As they respond take some of the ash from the slips of paper and rub them on your forearm. The ash will adhere to the dried soap on your arm and the message "Jesus" appears.

After Thoughts: Since fire is used, you should only do this with older students. Another important point that must be mentioned is that it is a very good idea to let the students know that this is a very clever trick and maybe consider explaining how it works. The last thing we want are the students going home telling their parents that  "Jesus" miraculously appeared on your arm.

Technical Notes: After preparing our forearm with the message, don't get all hot and sweaty because sweat will remove the soap. Then when you get to the end, all you'll wind up with is a big black smudge on your arm. If you know that you'll be working up a sweat, set up your arm right before the demonstration.

This is just one way I use the fun of magic to bring home an important object lesson. If you would like more ideas feel free to e-mail me for more information.

Teach, have fun, and bring the message of Christ to the young!

The 10 Commandments- What Should #11 Be?

As many of you know, the Ten Commandments are a set of moral guidelines that were believed to be written by God, and given to Moses in the form of two stone tablets. Many Christian and Jewish believers alike have since revered these historic commandments as a compass towards eternal life.

Much has changed in the world since these criteria were established, and many new acts of deviance and evil have risen. There are new habits and addictions that could not have even been imagined in Biblical times. This begs the question, what should the 11th Commandment be?

To recap for those of you who may have missed Church last Sunday:

  1. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
  2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.
  3. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.
  4. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
  5. Honour thy father and thy mother
  6. Thou shalt not kill.
  7. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
  8. Thou shalt not steal.
  9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
  10. Thou shalt not covet.

So here we are, with our Ten Commandments. From where I'm seated, it seems like there may be quite a bit missing from the list. With a list like this, I'd be pardoned for even my College years. So once again the question is before us, what should the 11th commandment be?

Drug Use
Speaking of the college years, our first option is the use of drugs. We're not talking about sipping the sacred wine, or even puffing on the holy herb here and there. We are talking about drug abuse, the type that is often a precursor to many of the other sins already set in place by the original Ten Commandments. Let's focus on the actual drug use, and not the events which may follow. Drug abuse is defined by the Treatment Solution Network as “Habitual use of drugs to alter one's mood, emotion, or state of consciousness”. One could argue that an altered perception of earth would not be the way God intends men to live. Others may say that the Lord would not want men to destroy themselves with such fruits of temptation. Still others may argue that drug abuse only affects the person involved, and does not pertain to religion any way whatsoever. Should the compulsive use of drugs to alter ones perception be deemed a sin in the eyes of the Church?

Pornography
This has been a hot topic now, particularly with the rise of the internet in modern culture. The Ten Commandments read “thou shall not commit adultery”. This certainly leaves a lot of room for interpretation, and much room for debate. It seems that looking at Pornography was never mentioned, probably because there was none at the time. Some will argue that this may already addressed with “thou shall not covet thy neighbor's wife”. Thy neighbor's wife however represents a real person, and not a digital or photographic image as is the case with pornography. Should admiring a nude person photo be seen as the next biggest sin in the eyes of the Church?

Masturbation
Not far from Pornography, but we will treat this separately however. Even the most holy of men must have been tempted on those lonely hot nights in Bethlehem. Many of the churches today will preach that masturbation is wrong, and the modern day equivalent of Adam and Eve tempted by the apple. If it was not intended for by God, how come it was not in the original 10 Commandments? Should having sex with oneself merit the 11th evil on the list of Commandments?

Pedophilia
In the original Ten Commandments, it is said that “thou shall not covet thy neighbor's wife”. Nowhere however does it state that one should lust after children. It seems like it's only been the recent past that children can no longer Trick-Or-Treat by themselves on Halloween, or play in the yard without being watched by a parent. The internet combined with Dateline has brought more attention to the evil that lurks behind even the most trustworthy looking individuals. Those predators that lust after children are looked down upon as the dredges of society, and even at the bottom of the food chain in places such as prison. They are the lowest of the low, the real life boogie men of a modern age. Should this be deemed the 11th Commandment in the eyes of the Church? My personal opinion is that we should change the sixth commandment to “Thou shall not kill, unless they touched a child”.

We know there are many more that could have been added to this list, but wanted to offer up the blatantly obvious. We felt these would top the list, but look forward to your comments. It will be interesting to see what many of you think would make a good 11th commandment.

VBI Offers a BCS Degree

We are delighted to be able to announce that VBI has now added significant value by being able to offer a Bachelor of Christian Studies (BCS) issued by St Stephen's University (SSU). SSU is a chartered university in New Brunswick, Canada that offers legally recognized Bachelors and Masters Qualifications. After a period of dialogue with SSU and various steps to structure our curriculum to fulfil the necessary requirements, the new relationship commenced as of 1st June 2006. This is almost exactly 6 years since the launch of VBI in May 2000.

This step is simultaneous with a partnership with Trinity Learning Community, based in Corona, California, which will offer the VBI bachelors program along with its own Masters program, also under the SSU umbrella. More institutional partnerships of this kind (as with TLC) will probably emerge in the future. Since our goal is to empower the local church, the VBI/SSU degree can be deployed in other ministry schools or colleges.

The BCS will be the highest qualification we offer. However, VBI will continue to offer other levels of reward to facilitate the education and training of those who wish to achieve a qualification that does not have all the requirements of the SSU degree, namely a Licentiate in Theology and the various Diplomas that constitute the building blocks of both levels of qualification.

This new relationship has caused us to review our whole system and has resulted in a new Instruction Manual that functions as a prospectus and road map to our online system. We urge all students to download this file and read at least the chapter entitled "Curriculum overview" to familiarize themselves with the new features. You will also find that the tutorial letters for each diploma (also in the Instruction Manual) are vastly improved and explain how to progress in your studies and which courses to choose. Please do read the tutorial letter relevant to your work before emailing our office with inquiries. We may well reply by simply directing you to a certain page on the Instruction Manual.

We trust that you will rejoice with us as we make this announcement,

Derek Morphew (Director)

Document Improvement Service

HeyDan Development has recently released a new service, specifically tailored for Thai organisations.

Although many websites and documents have already been translated into English by expert translators, it is often more than obvious to native English speaker that the document was not translated by a fellow native speaker.

Native English speakers often enjoy finding humour in translated documents, and some documents are noticeably more humorous than others. The problem with this is that a website or document, which has the potential to create many sales, instead loses impact and plausibility because of the style of English used.

HeyDan Development is now offering to proof those documents for English readability. Normal proofing is a costly business, as each and every word is pondered and considered for grammar and spelling. But HeyDan Development are offering a service where the customer decides how much time should be spent on a document, and where English readability and understanding takes a higher priority than general grammar and spelling.

For more information, please visit our website at HeyDan Development - Document Improvement Service.

Bangkok Student Centre

A new ministry is being developed to serve the students of Raamkhamhaeng, Bangkok's largest university, and also to create unity among the churches in the local area.

We are currently in the process of setting up this ministry, close to the gates of the university. Although we have many plans and ideas for this centre, it will primarily focus on providing study services for university students. This is a much needed service, and through this we hope to share the gospel, and also to introduce students to the services offered by various local churches, which may be of use to them.

Unity among the local churches is very important to us, so rather than starting up a new thing, by copying the services that local churches already offer, we want to offer something truly new, redirecting our customers to the services of the local church as there is need. We would also like to offer ourselves as helpful to the local churches, giving something to them instead of expecting things from them.

For more information on our thoughts and plans, please visit Bangkok Drop-In Centre Project.

T.E.S. (The Evangelization Society)

TES is a long established mission agengy working in evangelism in the UK.

In 2004, 'the Society' changed its mode of operation to become a grant-making trust offering grants to evangelists and evangelistic ministries in the UK. (Please note that our constitution does not allow us to make grants to work outside of the UK. Also we do not support, however worthy, projects that are solely church-based and therefore, in the opinion of the Trustees, should be supported by the local congregation).

If you wish to consider applying for a grant you should in the first instance contact the Trust Manager by e-mail or post (P.O. Box 63, CULLOMPTON, EX15 2YQ), with an outline of the project which you wish the Society to consider for a grant.

Thank you for your interest in TES.

The Poetry Bin - The Final Resting Place

Since my last article, a few people have sent me their poems to be included in 'The Poetry Bin', which is much appreciated.

If you have written any poem (whether you think it is good or not) and would like it included on the web for free, please do check out this blog, and then contact me with your submission.

The last thing anyone wants to see is a website full of just my poetry (if I can even call it that) ;) so please help me out by sending me your poems - this blog exists to include everyone's work.
